Richard Pulaski "Dick" COONS was born to Peter Mason COONS and Martha HOCKERSMITH on 18 Aug 1874 in McPherson Co. KS, fifth in a family of thirteen children. In 1896, he married Mabel D. COOK. Their children were Harold Mason, Robert Andrew, and Delta Florence. Mabel, Robert, and Delta all died ca 1903, their deaths quite a blow to the young husband and father. By 1913, Dick and his son Harold were living in Portland OR. Dick married Bertha C. (?), who survived him; they had no children. Dick was a Mason, and a member of St. John's Christian Church. He died of heart trouble at his home on N. Baldwin St. in Portland. At the time of his death, 23 Nov 1948, he was working as a miller in a flouring mill.
