Photos of Vandalism at Columbian Cemetery

Sunderland stone
An example of one or more stones broken into several chunks.
The cemetery has been hit with a recent wave of tombstone vandalism and severe storm damage. Many stones have been knocked over, dug up out of the ground, partially or wholly removed, and/or left in pieces. There seems to be no limit to the destruction some people are willing to do. Even the beautiful gazebo is being torn up, piece by piece, to where there is very little left.

Several people are working on ways to repair the stones, but it will take a lot of work, time, and money to do it properly. We're also working on building a solid fence (with razor wire at the top to help prevent unwelcome nighttime visitors), area lights, etc. Please see the Donation page for more information, and find out how you can participate and/or donate to the cause.

More examples of broken stones are below. There are many, many broken stones; what you'll see below is only a small sampling.

It is extremely sad to see such damage done to the final resting place of so many people. Please help us do what we can to bring this beautiful cemetery back to life.
